Below are trusted resources and organizations to support individuals in substance use recovery. Whether you’re looking for educational materials, peer support, or help in a moment of crisis, these links offer a variety of tools to guide and empower you on your recovery journey. We’ve curated this list with care to complement the healing work you may be doing in therapy and beyond.

SMART stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training. SMART Recovery is an evidenced-informed recovery method grounded in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), that supports people with substance dependencies or problem behaviors to: build and maintain motivation, cope with urges and cravings, manage thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and live a balanced life. Access SMART meetings locally and online. 

Recovery Dharma is a peer-led movement and community that is unified by a focus on recovery and finding freedom from the suffering of addiction. Traditional Buddhist teachings, often referred to as the Dharma, offer a powerful approach to healing from addiction and living a life of true freedom.

Free online and in-person meetings. Refuge Recovery is a practice, a process, a set of tools, a treatment, and a path to healing addiction and the suffering caused by addiction. The main inspiration and guiding philosophy for the Refuge Recovery program are the teachings of Siddhartha (Sid) Gautama. 

SAMHSA’s National Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP (4357) (also known as the Treatment Referral Routing Service), or TTY: 1-800-487-4889 is a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental and/or substance use disorders. This service provides referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations.
