Shelby Washburn is a licensed professional counselor and art therapist with a strong focus on supporting clients in healing from eating disorders and disordered eating. She is passionate about providing a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where people can explore their relationship with food, body, and self. Shelby also helps clients work through challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma, and identity concerns.

Shelby offers both traditional talk therapy and art therapy, tailoring each session to what feels most comfortable and effective for the client. She recognizes that some experiences can feel too complex for words alone, and creative expression can open new pathways for insight and healing. At the same time, she values the power of conversation and ensures there is never pressure to use art if it doesn’t resonate.

She earned her Master of Science in Art Therapy from Mount Mary University in 2022 and has worked with clients of all ages—adults, teens, children, and families.

Her therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from art therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and narrative therapy. Shelby adapts her approach to meet the unique needs of each person, with the goal of fostering genuine connection, respect, and empowerment. She feels honored to walk alongside clients as they move toward healing, recovery, and self-trust.
